Why €16.67 a month?
We estimate that the full operation of the SEA-EYE 5 will cost €600,000 per year. If 3,000 people agree to donate €16.67 or more per month, we can cover the costs for the whole year. This will enable us to deploy our new rescue vessel continuously and reliably wherever people are fighting for their lives.
How does sponsoring a ship help?
Regular donations give us the certainty we need to plan ahead and form the basis for our rescue operations in the Mediterranean. With the SEA-EYE 5, we are deploying a rescue vessel that is ideally suited to the task and capable of saving hundreds of lives. Together with 2,999 ship sponsors and your monthly support, you form the backbone of our new rescue vessel’s operations.
What makes the SEA-EYE 5 special?
The SEA EYE 5 is a fast and versatile rescue vessel. It belongs to the 23.3-metre class, a series of seven rescue vessels operated by the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS).
Designed as a rescue vessel, it is ideally suited for operations in the Mediterranean (built in 1990). Dank ihrer starken Motoren erreicht sie schnell Boote in Seenot. Als kleines Schiff kann sie von den italienischen Behörden zudem nicht in weit entfernte Häfen geschickt werden. Damit geht keine wertvolle Zeit in der Such- und Rettungszone verloren.
There is also an infirmary on board where patients can be treated and where pregnant women and people suffering from dehydration can receive emergency care. The equipment and the running of the facility are provided by German Doctors e.V.
Can I give a sponsorship as a gift?
Yes, of course. Sponsoring the SEA-EYE 5 saves lives. What better gift could there be?
Simply enter the recipient’s name on the donation form, print out the personalised sponsorship certificate and present it to them.
Will I receive a donation receipt?
For donations of up to €300, you do not need a donation receipt. To claim your donation against tax, your bank statement, together with our confirmation of the donation, is sufficient for the tax office.
For individual donations of €300 or more, we will automatically send you a donation receipt the following month.
We send donation receipts to regular donors at the end of the year.
