Supporting mental health of humanitarians in protracted humanitarian crises.

An interactive lecture with practical reflection, held in cooperation with Martina Čarija

Date: 29. January.2026
Time: 18 o’clock
Location: The event will take place online. Participants will receive the access data for the video conference by email prior to the event.

Desciption:

Humanitarian work in protracted crises places sustained emotional, psychological and ethical demands on those providing support. This interactive lecture offers an introduction to key risks to the mental wellbeing of humanitarian workers in long lasting crisis contexts, including chronic stress, emotional overload, moral distress and cumulative fatigue.
The session combines expert input with guided reflection. Participants will be invited, on a voluntary basis, to share observations and experiences from their own professional contexts. The focus is not on therapy, but on learning from lived experience, strengthening self awareness and recognising early signs of strain and individual support needs.
Due to the duration and format, this session is designed as an interactive lecture rather than a full workshop. It aims to provide a safe and respectful space for exchange, while offering practical impulses that participants can take into their daily work.
The event will be held in English.
