Description:
The position „cook“ is a very special one on board. The crew has to work hard for several weeks, so good meals are essential for a successful mission. This workshop introduces the position to those interested and is especially for people who want to apply for a rescue mission with Sea-Eye.
Workshop topics:
• kitchen equipment
• stockholding
• quantity calculations
• tasks during a rescue operation
We will also share tips and tricks that can help you in your life on board as a cook. There will be room for questions and reports on your own experiences. Furthermore, the Sea-Eye cookery book will be presented, which is specially adapted to the conditions, requirements and the number of people on board.
Speaker:
Laura Krehl has worked on the ALAN KURDI as a cook in two shipyard periods and on one mission, where she learned how to cook under extraordinary conditions and how to provide for 170 people on a ship.
Hanna Winter works as a housekeeping manager. Besides her experience as a cook on the ALAN KURDI during a shipyard period, Hanna also brings expertise and experience from her professional life such as diverse menu planning, organisation of work in the kitchen, catering for many people, stock-keeping and much more to the workshop.
